Why was Launchpad created?

The NBA created Launchpad in 2022 to play a hands-on role in the future development of basketball technology, focused on the NBA’s key priorities. In 2023, the program expanded to include business priorities as well as basketball.

Do I have to be based in the United States to participate?

No. We accept applications from all companies regardless of location.

How are submissions evaluated?

Companies are evaluated based on their product or technology, their business case, the applied science of their submission, and their alignment with the NBA’s highlighted priority areas.

What are the benefits of participating in NBA Launchpad?

As part of NBA Launchpad, companies and entrepreneurs will receive access to the NBA resources, hands-on support, brand awareness, and other unique incentives to develop the future technologies.

Where will the R&D project take place?

The Launchpad team will work with each company to craft a R&D project within the NBA Ecosystem.

What is Launchpad Demo Day?

As a finale to the program, NBA Launchpad companies will present the results of their six-month R&D projects to NBA staff and select strategic partners at NBA Summer League.

What happens after Launchpad?

The NBA will work with Launchpad participants to create a unique plan on how best to work together moving forward.
